Fast SAS Programs at Finanz Informatik
Setting: One of the largest computing centers in Germany
Finanz Informatik is the IT service provider for the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe and processes the data of 430 savings banks and many other companies. With the application OSPlus Report, users in the savings banks can configure and retrieve data selections. These queries encompass up to 370 control parameters and up to 8 Million data records per savings bank. The application runs under SAS on over 30 high end computers using the z/OS operating system.
Assignment and Solution: Improving performance without quality losses
To ensure timely deployment of the requested queries, the Finanz Informatik commissioned us with the tuning of fifty existing SAS programs for data provisioning. Our employee, an experienced specialist for SAS under z/OS, reworked the programs. The programmers of Finanz Informatik also profited from this expert knowledge in SAS Tuning.
The Benefit: More Capacity and Scope of Action
Thanks to the optimisation undertaken by HMS Analytical Software, the Finanz Informatik has achieved a significant reduction in system and CPU loads and could thus extend the time buffer for the overnight batch processing.
