Competence Center: Microsoft

The Microsoft competence center is the central platform when it comes to Microsoft and its products for our company.

We are the point of contact for management and sales as soon as an assessment of current trends is required.

In addition, we help HMS employees to keep their knowledge of the relevant Microsoft technologies up to date. Microsoft has been HMS's most important strategic technology and business partner for many years and therefore requires close support in the area of expertise. The main focus in the competence center is on the .net framework and the associated development tools.

Other exciting topics include all products relating to the data platform, both on-premise and in the cloud, data analysis products and the relevant security tools.

Azure - Microsoft's cloud platform - naturally plays a role in all considerations.

So, get on board and realise tomorrow's projects together!

Strategic Knowledge Goals

  • Acquire, keep up and share knowledge in relevant Microsoft technologies in the company.
  • Identify relevant technologies and stay on top of Microsoft developments. Currently, this includes products related to data platform, data analytics and data evaluation tools, not to forget software development tools. Security products and security platforms are also becoming increasingly important.
  • Keep partnership requirements in focus and monitor HMS status in the Microsoft world.
  • Networking inside of Microsoft relevant communities.

Pascal and Jan talk about the work in the competence center

What makes the competence center special for you?

Pascal: For me, the competence center is above all a super-useful forum for exchanging ideas with colleagues. Especially when there is a healthy mix of experienced and newer colleagues, the discussions produce the most valuable results. Everyone benefits from this in equal measure!

Jan: Evaluating the latest Azure technologies and sharing with colleagues how they can best be used in our customers’ projects.

Why do you participate in the competence center?

Pascal: I work in the Microsoft competence center because I regularly have to deal with Microsoft tools and frameworks in my projects. If I have a question or have learned something new, I can bring it to our knowledge circles and be sure that a valuable discussion will result.

Jan: The partnership with Microsoft and the corresponding cloud projects are a core area of HMS. Therefore, it is important to me that all colleagues stay up to date with the ever-changing Azure technologies, and that we actively discuss the technologies together.

Why are Microsoft technologies attractive to you?

Pascal: Microsoft technologies are attractive because they always have a high-quality standard and can be integrated with each other in many ways. In addition, the range of tools with a wide variety of application purposes is truly remarkable.

Jan: The combination of long-tested technologies, such as SQL Server, combined with the simplicity in Azure makes for effective work. But even with new technologies, you can count on excellent documentation and availability.
