Initial situation

One of the leading national automotive banks in Germany successfully migrated and modernized its SAS platform to SAS Viya on Azure with the support of HMS.
Despite complex challenges, such as a demerger and the need to shut down the on-premises platform, HMS migrated all programs and data to the cloud on schedule. The new environment enables the specialist department to make optimal use of SAS Viya's features and meet regulatory requirements. HMS' flexibility and extensive experience contributed significantly to the success of the project.

• In addition to the SAS platform, the input database was also migrated and functionalities in SAS were added and the SAS scope expanded.
• Transitional regulations for the old platform and a hard shutdown date for OnPrem had to be met.
• Due to a demerger, authorizations, user accounts, emails, subscriptions and GitHub adjustments had to be made.
• The dynamic migration environment required a lot of coordination with business and IT contacts as well as transparent planning. In addition, the latest SAS Viya software required further updates.

HMS solution

• Setting up the cloud infrastructure with Kubernetes, implementing migration and automation tools and carrying out the migration (projects, data, programs) with code adjustments.
• OpsReadiness and testing: HMS developed the OpsReadiness and supported the testing by the specialist department. An IFRS9 audit by KPMG was required and the bank license capability was confirmed.

Benefits

Thanks to the well-coordinated HMS project team and the required skills, the goals regarding the new separate, modern environment and the completion date were achieved. All programs, projects and data were migrated to the Azure Cloud on time and the customer can now use the features of SAS Viya.
